Under The Table is out everwhere!
Under The Table, the complete visual novel game, has been out for almost two months now, available to buy from my store, on itch.io or through Patreon. As of today it should also be available on Steam, pending final approval, completing the widespread release – so it feels like a good time for a summary post. (Okay, fair warning, I meant to post this on the release day but apparently didn't hit publish.)
It works for PC, Mac or Android, including over 1,000 images, 20 mini animations and over 60,000 words of narrative text and dialogue. It was an epic project to produce, so check it out!
What’s the Game?
Under The Table is an interactive shrinking adventure/survival horror story, in which you find yourself shrunk in the office by your wicked manager Eva. You need to find a way to restore your size, but she’s intent on catching you to forward her career. Most of your giant coworkers aren’t much friendlier, and in the age-old fashion of giants are rather open to eating you!
This is a full adaptation of the interactive book of the same name, with a few tweaks, such as the inclusion of a new minor character Rita, and some more dynamic dialogue options. This version is fully contained to the office, but there’s room to expand in future if it proves popular enough.
What Else Can You Expect?
Under The Table is fully illustrated and packed with choices that determine your fate, with eight major characters and a few minor ones. Will you risk holding out to reach your best friend Ailyn, or will you take a chance with Daniela the secretary, Jules the janitor or Hailey the young beauty? And just what are they hiding on Floor 2?
Every decision you make could bring you one step closer to survival – or spell inevitable doom.
You can play as a male or female character, and along the way you’ll find 20 mini-animations, including gender variations, typically for death scenes. The biggest danger is your giant coworkers trying to eat you – but you also have to avoid getting stepped on, vacuumed, captured for life and more.
The action all takes place within the offices of Move & Adjust, where you can travel from Eva’s office through three other private offices, a central bull pen, a toilet, a stair well, some vents and even a hidden laboratory!
Want To See More?
To celebrate the release, I’ve produced one more final trailer, so there’s now three trailers with include bonus animations to set the mood of the game, linked below:
You can also try before you buy with an extensive demo, available free on itch.io – this includes 180 images and a couple of animations, covering the complete introduction and most of the action available in the first two rooms.
Or if you’re ready to dive into the full experience, get the game today from my store, itch.io or Patreon!
And if you enjoy the game, please spread the word however you can. I’d love to make more, so I’m hoping for a big launch here.
